Glasgow City Guide

Having lived in Glasgow my entire life, there are some special places that I always recommend to anyone visiting. Which is why I simply had to share them with you today.

So without further adieu, here are my top places to visit and enjoy in Glasgow, Scotland;

WHAT TO SEE

The first place that I would recommend exploring in Glasgow would have to be the West End. You’ll find the beautiful Botanic Gardens, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and one of my favourite spots in the city; Ashton Lane. Harry Potter fans can even pretend that they’re visiting Hogwarts by wandering around the beautiful Glasgow University grounds.

Not too far away, you’ll find the Riverside Museum, aptly located on the bank of the River Clyde. You could easily dedicate a full day to exploring each of these museums and I would definitely recommend getting there early to beat the crowds. There are so many fantastic exhibits to check out and places within and outside them, to explore.

And if you really want to explore the city, why not undertake the Glasgow mural trail? Even if you’re not actively searching for them, you’ll probably stumble across a few of them just by making your way around the city.

WHERE TO SHOP

If you are someone who simply loves to shop or you’re heading up to Scotland to do some Christmas shopping, Glasgow’s shopping game is seriously strong. On the city centre’s main shopping street, Buchanan Street, you will find the likes of Lush, House Of Fraser, Jo Malone, Michael Kors and Kiko Milano. At the top of Buchanan Street you’ll find Buchanan Galleries, with stores such as John Lewis, Victoria’s Secret, Next, Flying Tiger and Monki. Other city centre shopping centre havens well worth a visit; St Enoch and Princes Square.

In St Enoch you’ll find Debenhams, Topshop, The Disney Store and Hamleys. Whereas in Princes Square you’ll find Scotland’s only Kate Spade New York store, Radley London, Space NK and Cos, as well as the fabulous Everyman Cinema.

WHERE TO GRAB A BITE TO EAT

For lunch or dinner, here are my top picks by category;

Burgers – Bread Meats Bread

Pizza – Paesano Pizza

Indian – Chaakoo Bombay Cafe

Brunch – Cafe Strange Brew

Desserts – Stack & Still

Vegan/Vegetarian/Health Conscious – Kcal Kitchen

WHERE TO STAY

I’m a big fan of CitizenM Glasgow, located in the heart of the city centre. If you’ve ever stayed in one of their hotels, you will know the room layout well. But if you haven’t, the modern pod design maximizes space and the novelty of mood lighting will have you playing with it for quite some time. Another great budget option is Point A Glasgow. If you stay, you must have the breakfast as it is truly something to write home about.

If you’re looking to really treat yourself or enjoy a spa day, Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel and Spa would be my top pick. I’m actually dreaming of a trip there myself, hopefully soon.

So there you have it, some of my favourite places in Glasgow, Scotland.

Have you ever visited Glasgow or wanted to at some point? And which of
my picks look like places you’d like to visit?
