I’m no stranger to a staple white piece. I always say, invest in the basic colours and add a little something on top if needed. White on white is a thing and we’ve seen legendary designers, such as Alexander Wang, giving it a go in their SS collections over the past few years. It’s time to up our game!
The fit of the piece is just as important as the colour itself. I’d recommend opting for a boyfriend or mom styled jean for example, which has a good denim count; These will hold their shape without being too rigid. A tailored dress or a white dress over a darker outfit will do you well also.
Experiment with one piece if it’s your first rodeo, but don’t be afraid to go further.
Here are some examples of how you can approach some white looks for the seasons…
Spring: Throw on some blue jeans and pair them with a crisp, white oversized shirt and some white heeled mules, you’ll be ready for brunch in no time.
Summer: A beautiful, sleeveless white pleated midi dress will help in hot weather and accessorise with nude court heels and a small nude bag. From the BBQ to the bar!
Autumn: White skinny jeans can be casual too. Pair them with an oversized burgundy jumper and trainers for an off–duty model vibe.
Winter: A pleated skirt with *bear with me* white tights, a roll neck and beret for the ultimate Blair Waldorf vibe.
Don’t be overly worried about getting your clothes dirty either. Of course, a white pair of shoes or bag will get a little dusty, but I wouldn’t put them on an overly dirty ground anyway. White pieces do wash, but also take care of them, or, like me, buy more than one of your favourite piece as a back-up, just in case that one too many glasses of wine happens to spill on that white skirt you’ve been loving.
