Offering what seems to be a new take on the story we’ve all heard so many times, the film is an opulent farce, taking place over three days of a fictional Christmas break with the Royal Family at Sandringham, as Princess Diana’s (Kristen Stewart) marriage to Prince Charles crumbles around her. Creepy, excellently reviewed and very deliberately showing up the Royals as ridiculous – why not kick off the Christmassy feeling with a bit of aristocratic psychological trauma?
