5 Ways to Remedy a Sleepless Night

I s there anything worse than tossing and turning for hours on end with the building realisation of running on empty for the day ahead? Bookmark this post and rest filled nights will soon come your way.

Tidy Your Space

Sometimes a bedroom is in need of a reshuffle in order to provide a truly peaceful sleep. Not only is tidying up a good way to use up any anxious or negative energy, but it results in a calmer, more ordered space. If your room is already neat and tidy, dusting and cleaning works wonders too. As does reorganising your wardrobe or bedside cabinet.

Wind Down With an Audiobook

After a long day working at my computer, I find reading a book tends to strain my eyes and boggle my brain. The ease of listening to an audiobook whilst sipping on a herbal tea chills me out like nothing else. I’m currently listening to 1984 narrated by Andrew Wincott which sends me off in under half an hour.

Lay on an Acupressure Mat

Achey muscles paired with an overactive mind? Trust me when I say an acupressure mat will change your life. I often get muscle pain in my shoulders that melts away whenever I lay on mine whilst under a heated blanket. It takes some getting used to at first, but you’ll soon wonder how you lived without one.

Try out Herbal Remedies

I swear by CBD paste, valerian in tincture form and chamomile essential oil. Anxious thoughts forever keep me awake at night, but these remedies have my back every time. If you’re hesitant about trying CBD, valerian is a great alternative as it has similar effects for calming the mind. Lavender pillow spray is an absolute must too.

Start Intermittent Fasting

Scientific studies have proven that intermittent fasting can help to build a stronger circadian rhythm. No more raiding the fridge at night or cooking up instant noodles in the early hours. If you’re serious about resetting your body clock, getting into the habit of intermittent fasting will make it far easier. Plus, you’ll soon ditch the habit of eating before bed without even noticing it. Just remember that your body needs to rest overnight and this isn’t helped when it is tasked with digesting food.

Combine all of the above for the most chilled transition into the land of nod imaginable.
