Sunday is always a great day to relax and do activities that make you happy, whether that’s watching the TV all day long or to sleep the entire day. I know every day might feel like a Sunday at the moment, but establishing a routine throughout the week will help you make the most of your Sunday, the right way. It’s the perfect day for activities that will allow you to concentrate on yourself, what you need and give yourself some rest. When you’ve worked the entire week, it’s only fair to slow down things on Sundays. Sunday should be sacred. Here’s a list of activities you can do to relax and unwind, whether it’s a Sunday or a Monday…
WRITE A LIST OF THINGS YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR
Having a positive spirit can change everything and we need as much positivity now as we can get. Therefore, it is important to focus on the good days and the positives throughout the week, to remind yourself of how lucky you are to be where you are. Write these good things that happen in a notebook or piece of paper from time to time and then try to re-read them after a few months. This will allow you to see how far you’ve come in terms of personal goals & plans, motivating you to keep it up.
It can be interesting to take a few minutes to list all the positive things that have happened to you and the positive things you have done for others. This will also attract positivity in your life in the coming weeks.
DO AN ACTIVITY THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY
Whether that’s listening to your favourite song or playing with your pet, take the time to do something that feeds your mind happiness and especially something that allows you to stimulate your mood. You have all the time in the world! This is the best way to start your day positively and in a good state of mind.
Sunday is the best day to rest, to relax, to have quality time with your loved ones or to take time for yourself. Sunday’s are known for doing nothing, so take the time to do something (or nothing) that makes you feel good. Prepare a delicious breakfast, enjoy every little moment you experience or relax with a book. These small self care habits can make a big difference in how you feel and your mood throughout the day.
CLEAN & ORGANISE YOUR HOME
Cleaning is not the first thing that comes to mind when we think of relaxation, but when your home is clean & tidy, you’ll feel much better internally! Whilst we spend more and more time in our own space, we will slowly realise the little tasks that need to be done, that we’ve been putting off for months. The process of organising and cleaning up your home can de-clutter your mind and every little helps right now.
Sunday is also the day when you’ll have the opportunity to organise and plan for the week ahead, making it less stressful. You can take the time to fold and put away your laundry. You can wash your dishes. All these activities can really calm your mind.
DON’T USE YOUR PHONE THAT OFTEN
Checking your phone as soon as you wake up and watching all your notifications is a very bad habit, and it’s something that can easily make you lose an hour of your day. Spending hours trying to catch up with everything on social media that you missed the day before or during the night, will honestly not bring you much joy.
The things you read or see on social media platforms may discourage you from starting the day off in the right way, as you’ll soon be comparing yourself against others on social media. Check important things like messages and calls but leave emails and social media aside for a second – it’s not going anywhere!! You will be able to check on them later, they do not have to be part of your life as soon as you open your eyes. You will notice that you will have less hassle and that you will focus on what is really worth your time.
