Self-care can often slip our mind, but it is so important that we take time out of our hectic day to take care of ourselves too. Unwinding after a stressful day or week can be something, we all forget to do and often compromise on. How many times have you laid awake with your mind still going 100mph thinking of this and that?
If you have an hour or just 15 minutes at the end of your day, here are a few ways you can unwind and relax…
Podcasts!
Listening to a podcast is a perfect way to take a break from our hectic day and occupy our busy minds, whether that is on your lunch break or before bed. It’s a great way to recharge and educate yourself at the same time; either listen to something that calms or inspires you or makes you laugh; whatever you need today. Does your favourite celebrity or influencer have a podcast? In Spotify, you will find every category to start your podcast search; If you’re looking for something that does all 3; Ferne Cottons Happy Place is a great place to start.
Watch, watch, watch!
What series is guaranteed to make you laugh over and over, no matter how many times you have watched it? My all-time favourites are Modern family, Brooklyn 99 and of course the timeless classic; Friends. Another great way to relax is to watch a series that transforms your mood, one that just makes you feel instantly happy and forget the days stresses. It is also the perfect time of the year to get cosy with your favourite hot drink and fluffy blanket, so pop your pumpkin spice candle on and watch your favourite series, you might as well.
Skincare is self-care…
Skincare is the ultimate way to unwind. Giving yourself 10-15 minutes to fully indulge yourself in your skincare routine will allow to be present in the moment, whilst giving your skin some attention. If you’re looking to kick your routine up a notch, look at some lymphatic drainage massages, which you can incorporate into your evening routine after a long day.
If you’re looking for a way to unwind in the comfort of your snug bed on an autumn night, getting lost in a book for half an hour before you sleep is the perfect way. It gives you chance to switch off from the world and your phone, leaving your mind at peace ready for a great night’s sleep.
So, how will you unwind today?
