Quick Health and Wellbeing Tips for Women on the Go

For all the busy women on the go, there are a few quick habits to implement into your daily routine which can enhance your overall health and wellbeing. 

For busy women with long days and tight schedules, keeping on top of health and wellbeing can be quite the task. Not all of us have the time to sit through an hour-long yoga class or prepare three nutritionally-dense and delicious meals for the day ahead. Scheduling the time to give our bodies and minds the nurture and care they deserve can be difficult.  

Every single day, our bodies go through so much. Whether it’s the extra hormones we take in the form of contraception, the boozy weekends we spend with friends or simply the stress we experience in day-to-day life, it’s important that we take care of our bodies and wellbeing. While you may not have enough hours during the day to dedicate to self-care and wellness, there are some small daily steps you can take to enhance your health. 

Start the day with probiotics

Taking a probiotic with breakfast literally takes a few seconds, but it can make a huge difference to your digestive and gut health. Taking probiotics first thing in the morning helps to boost your immune system and aid digestion issues – particular strains can be used to aid women’s health issues too, such as UTIs and yeast infections. Simply taking one or two probiotic tablets with your breakfast each morning will provide your body with the best possible start to the day. 

Use your ‘spare’ time wisely

If you have a few spare moments throughout your day, try to utilise these by doing something that benefits your mind. When I say ‘spare’ time, I’m not talking about the relaxing hour you have to yourself in the evening, I’m talking about that fifteen minutes on the bus or your ten-minute walk back from the shops. Use this time for extra wellbeing activities, such as listening to a feel-good podcast, practising gratitude as you walk or even a ten-minute meditation class. While it can feel tempting to simply stare out of the window while on your usual bus route, try listening to a feel-good playlist instead. This will help you to disconnect from your busy routine and invest in yourself. 

Don’t skip meals – no matter how busy life gets

We’ve all been there; you’ve had back-to-back meetings or got stuck into a task and have barely had a minute to eat. Unfortunately, there’s always going to be those busy days where you feel like there aren’t quite enough hours in the day, but it’s important that you don’t skip meals during these busy periods. Fuleing your body should be a priority! Skipping meals will not only leave you feel moody and fatigued, but it can be damaging to your health too. If some days you can’t fit three big meals in, consider switching to smaller, more frequent meals or prep your day of office eats the night before. This way you can ensure that your body and bran is nourished throughout the day.

Keep your water bottle on you at all times

Invest in a good water bottlekeep it topped up and take it on the go! Staying hydrated throughout the day is key; drinking enough water helps to our organs functioning properly, improves sleep quality, regulates your body temperature, keeps your joints lubricated and ensures that the right nutrients are delivered to your body throughout the day. To avoid dehydration and keep your skin fresh, aim to drink at least two litres of water a day.  

Make sure you get enough sleep

No matter how busy your schedule, it’s crucial that you make time for your beauty sleep. Lack of quality sleep can affect us in so many ways and lead to a number of issues; from increased stress levels to weight gain and depression. Aim to get between seven and eight hours of sleep per night so that your body can properly rest and repair after a long and stressful day. When you make the effort to ensure that you’re getting enough sleep you’ll notice a huge difference in the way you feel, from higher energy levels to improved mood and productivity 

If you find yourself struggling to switch off after a busy day or your mind is buzzing when you lay down to rest, try taking some extra cautions to create the perfect sleep-friendly environment. Lowering the temperature of your room, removing all electronics and investing in some good blackout blinds or essential oils will contribute to a higher quality and more peaceful sleep.
