Now that the much-loved TV series is finally getting a reboot, we thought now would be the perfect time to take a look back at some of Sex and the City’s most iconic outfits.
When Sex and the City first hit screens in the 90s, it quickly made a name for itself as one of the most fashionable television series. 23 years later and some of the outfits, styled by legendry costume designer Patricia Field, are still used amongst fashionistas for style and design inspiration. In homage to the shows return, we have rounded up 9 of the most iconic looks from the shows leading characters:
This is one of Carrie’s more understated looks, but one that I find myself recreating every Summer. It shows that even the most simplistic of outfits can make a statement and remain timeless for years to come.
Arguably the most elegant of the three bridesmaids’ dresses which only made the Charlotte v Big showdown even more dramatic.
Whilst this may not be an outfit for everyone, it definitely embodied Samantha’s bold personality and goes down as one of her most memorable looks on the show.
Miranda was often seen sporting a power suit throughout the shows six seasons due to her career as a lawyer, but this grape-coloured suit will always be a particular favourite of mine.
A dress so iconic that Carrie actually wore it twice. Once in season three, episode 17, What Goes Around Comes Around and again when Mr Big surprises her for date night in the second movie. The Galliano dress is comprised of the designer’s own press clippings and was inspired by the homeless scene on the streets of Paris.
One can only hope to look this good when 9 months pregnant.
Powerful, colourful and structured. This outfit is 100% Samantha Jones.
Miranda will always be the Queen of the off-duty look. She is not afraid to experiment with androgynous styles and we love her for it.
It wouldn’t be a list of SATCs most iconic outfits without this one. This particular wedding to Mr Big may not have gone as planned but this dress will always be remembered as one of the most spectacular wedding dresses in television history.
Even though Kim Cattrall will not be reprising her role as Samantha Jones, one thing is for sure; we can’t wait to see what the other ladies, Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte will be wearing once the new episodes premiere.
