Autumn is now officially here and that means we get colder weather and darker evenings and if you’re like me then you will need some extra pampering and self-care to get through the next few months. With everything that’s going on in the world we all deserve a little treat and some time to ourselves to relax, so today I’ll be sharing my ideas for a pamper night at home!
A show about friendship, this is one to sit-down and devour in one night. Sutton, Jane and Kat are three friends who work at an elite magazine in the US, as they struggle through relationships, work and everything in between. I love some of the messaging behind a lot of the storylines in this show, remaining incredibly positive while it tackles a lot of harder-hitting themes.
An oldie but a goodie, New Girl follows New Yorker Jess (Zooey Deschanel) who moves into an apartment with three men after having her relationship crumble. This show gives you pure belly-laughing moments and is just incredibly funny. With seven series, there’s enough to really watch en masse. Some of it is incredibly stupid humour, but sometimes you just need that, right?
Sometimes the most uplifting shows are the ones which don’t start off that way. If you don’t know who the Fab Five are you need to get watching asap. The premise of the show is 5 style experts take people who don’t feel themselves and are looking for a glow-up and make it happen. However, the goal of the show isn’t just making them look good on the outside, it’s to make them feel good on the inside too. These humans come with incredible stories and the Fab 5, with a little help from their sparkle, help bring out these people’s true, confident selves. This show makes me cry, laugh and mostly cry from warmth.
Even though the premise of sounds everything but-uplifting, this is one of those shows that gets you giggling within the first couple of episodes. The good place follows Eleanor, who has just passed away and has been sent to ‘the good place’ when she should have been in ‘the bad place’ due to her dishonest and immoral life. She lies and cheats her way to staying there. A completely different style of comedy, this has such great and witty humour in it.
Think ‘The Office’ but with cops. Andy Samberg is the gift of life in this TV show where a police officer and the rest of his team take on crimes in New York. This humour in this is very much slapstick and silly in a lot of places, but if you’re just looking for a good laugh this is perfect.
