Christmas is just around the corner and during the festive season, we tend to put our fitness regimes on the back burner and swap it for a few weeks of a good ole’ self-indulge!!
This is the time of year to give ourselves no limitations. Our normal routines are well and truly out the window and that is more than ok. This is a very social time which includes a lot of food and drink. So, what if there was a way to stay fit and keep exercising during the festive period?
Here are some good tips on how to stay relatively healthy this December…
MAKE A PLAN...
Set yourself some realistic goals and make a plan for the festive season. Start your day with half an hour of yoga each morning; The good thing about yoga is you don’t even have to leave your home, so this is perfect with there still being restrictions in place.
DRINK PLENTY OF WATER…
Staying hydrated is also very important, especially when consuming alcohol. The benefits of drinking a lot of water are that it suppresses your appetite, as well as spending up your metabolism. By consuming a lot of water, you may not feel the need to snack as much and you’ll be saving more room for those pigs in blankets…
WATCH YOUR FOOD INTAKE…
We all know how easy it is to get carried away with our food intake during this time and seem to eat a lot more than we usually would. We can still enjoy all the amazing food that is on offer, but by having smaller portions and not over indulging can make a massive difference.
WALK IT OFF…
Set aside some time on either Christmas or Boxing Day to take a lovely stroll. Walking has some incredible benefits and not only increases your mood, but it is also a great way to get your metabolism going. Getting a half an hour walk in each day will help you keep a great and healthy balance.
Christmas is all about having fun and indulgence, so don’t be too hard on yourself. Enjoy this time with no regrets. Following a few of these tips will help a few of those guilty feelings we tend to feel. Find that healthy balance to ensure you have a happy and prosperous this Christmas.
