Staple Skincare for Your 2021 Routine

In this post, you can find out what must-have products you need to incorporate into your skincare routine this year, if you haven’t already…

During the wintertime, you need to pay more attention to your skincare routine and there’s no better time than the New Year to pick up the pace a bit. The winter weather is not only gloomy and rainy, but it’s also still very cold outside. If you don’t take the necessary steps to ensure your skin is protected and well taken care of, it will have a huge impact on your overall skin health

Obviously, you need to take care of your skin throughout the year, but during the colder months, your skin requires some extra care. In this post, you can find out what must-have products you need to incorporate into your skincare routine this year, if you haven’t already. Ideally, you need to be using these products on an everyday basis, regardless of the weather or time of the year.

So, without further ado, let’s jump into the post and get your staple skincare products for 2021!

Always make sure to wash your face with a cleanser (if you’re still using make up wipes – make your new year’s resolution to not!) Everyone will say that a cleanser is an indispensable when it comes to your skincare routine and that’s for a very good reason. Cleansers will help to remove impurities, germs, dirt and makeup from your skin and a double cleanse will do double the workEvery day when you wake up, after you go outside, after you’ve worn makeup and when you go to bed – make sure to use a cleanser to wash your face. There are various different types of cleansers; balms, creams, foam – you just need to figure out what works best for your skin.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Cleansing Gel

Using a toner will help remove any dirt or impurity that your cleanser didn’t remove, whilst balancing the pH levels in your skin. In addition, using a toner on a daily basis will help with the overall appearance of your skin in terms of tightness and texture. You can get hydrating toners, exfoliating toners and targeted toners for specific skincare concerns.

One of the reasons why a serum is essential to use during the winter is because they can target specific skincare concerns and having a Hyaluronic Acid serum will lock in additional moisturehelping your skin feel a lot more hydrated and smoother. Depending on the ingredients that the serum contains, it will add extra benefits to your skin as well. There are lots of different serums on the market, depending on your main concern.

Using a moisturiser will help your skin stay hydrated, especially during the colder months. There is a misconception that you only need to use a moisturiser if you have dry skin, which is completely false; It can actually help to reduce oiliness as well as dryness on your skin. Regardless of the skin type you have; everyone should be using a moisturiser every day and there are tons on the market that you can experiment with! If you don’t use a moisturiser, it might cause acne and/or other skin conditions and obviously the inevitable – dryer skin.

There is a good reason why everyone should be wearing SPF, regardless of the weather or season. Wearing a sunscreen will protect your skin from UVB rays which are harmful to the skin all year round. Not only can these rays damage your skin, but they can also increase the chance of developing skin cancer. Even if the weather is gloomy outside, make sure to wear SPF every single day.

Lip Balm

A lip balm is a must during the wintertime! Not only it seals moisture in but it also protects your lips from dryness – and no one likes dry lips... It will ensure your lips are moisturised and hydrated, which is very important during the colder months.
