Now more than ever we need to invest more time into self-care. Whilst for some self-care is a luxury, the past year has shown that taking the time to take care of yourself is essential. The following techniques are to inspire you to relax and regenerate, for both your mental and physical wellbeing. Even when you’re on a tight schedule, most of these rituals need only five minutes and can give you some of that all-important “me time”.
No matter how much free time you have in a day, there’s always room for a face mask. When you’re tight on time, try a five-minute peel-off or sheet mask for ease. Or for a more relaxing, luxurious experience go for a twenty-minute-deep cleanse. Incorporating a regular face mask into your routine will make you look and feel gorgeous, keeping your skin glowing. I recommend doing one before bed to wind down and prepare yourself for sleep.
When you have a little longer, perhaps on a weekend, take a warm bubble bath with Epsom salt or essential oils. It may seem obvious, but heat relaxes muscles and eases tension, giving you a physical solution as well as time to think. Light a candle and enjoy!
After a stressful day, sit down for a little while with a scented candle. Relaxing aromas like lavender are calming, and combining this technique with five minutes of meditation to clear your mind or reflect on the day can be very regenerative. Give yourself time to process your feelings, perhaps even writing them down or listening to relevant music.

Shorter ones can be used in the shower to replace conditioner if you need a quick solution, but others can be left on longer. A healthy, fresh, and nice-smelling head of hair can alleviate stress throughout the day.
You can fit these into almost any part of your day, but if you’re really busy perhaps try it when you sit down for tea at night. These are self-soothing methods which ease anxiety, and seem simple but can be very effective and budget-friendly.
Making time for these short rituals in your everyday life can help you feel happier and healthier. Even small changes can make the world of difference. Remember, taking care of yourself will create positive changes in every other aspect of your life.
