As the UK have gradually had to adapt to a new way of living in lockdown, some may find themselves yearning for a positive form of change, to counter what we are all going through.
‘Change’ is normally viewed as a bad thing that many of us don’t want to face or accept. However, this nation-wide isolation is the perfect opportunity to take control and make positive changes to all our lives, during these uncertain times.
Recreate your living space
This is pretty much easier said than done, but right now is the ideal time to make any minor changes to your home that may have been on your ‘eventually to-do list’. This could simply be hanging that painting that you bought months ago, to organising your workspace for a less cluttered mind.
You could take the time to get creative and redecorate and revamp your house by doing some simple tricks. The opportunities are endless when it comes to DIY, you could paint, spray paint and upcycle furniture to give yourself a fresh and vibrant new living space. Pinterest is perfect for finding interior inspiration.
Read a book
Do you always feel like you there aren’t enough hours in the day to kick back, relax and read? Well now is your chance to sink your teeth into a good book!
There’s nothing quite like the feeling of when you find a good book and can’t seem to put it down. But for a change, why don’t you push the boat out and try a new genre of a novel? Check out our other articles with lots of great book suggestions!
You could even go the one step further and treat yourself to a Kindle, where you can store and read thousands of good books – that is unless, like me, if you love that classic new book smell!
Try a new food
Have you found yourself getting bored of the same meals every week? Why don’t you try a brand–new recipe or bake something new? You could find a tasty new meal to try on Pinterest or purchase a new recipe book to keep yourself busy during isolation.
It’s always a nice feeling making someone smile when they’re feeling low, so you could even take this extra time to cook or bake something for your family, friends and neighbours to cheer them up!
Try and keep positive
Most importantly, don’t be too harsh on yourself if you find you’re lacking the motivation to do anything remotely productive during this lockdown.
Everyone is handling these unsettling times differently, and just because someone on social media is using their time to exercise or be productive, doesn’t mean that you are wasting your time.
Put yourself first and do things that will make you feel better.
