February is known to be the month of love, with so many couples spoiling eachother with luxurious gifts and even trips! Whether you’re single or in a relationship, it doesn’t mean you can’t book a holiday for yourself this year. It’s an amazing way to treat yourself and hey, we’re catching flights this year, not feelings…
Obviously, one of the most important factors of organising a trip away is finding a hotel; since it’s the first place you are going once you land in your destination and it’s the place you’ll be spending your nights. Some people prefer to spend less of their budget on their hotel, in order to enjoy restaurants and tours more, whilst others prefer to invest in a good hotel in order to be sure they have a great night. Here are some tips for you to find a great hotel, whatever your budget is!
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE TIME OF YEAR
The price of hotel rooms vary depending on the time of the year you’re booking for, which is one of the reasons why you should take advantage of travelling at the beginning of the year. For instance, we know that during the summertime, prices are guarenteed to grow increasingly and hotels know they will have no trouble filling their rooms.
It’s always important to consider going away during the wintertime or at the beginning of the year, as the price of hotel rooms decreases, because it is much better for them to earn little money than to have an empty room that doesn’t provide anything!
Next time you go on holiday, if you have the opportunity to travel at the beginning of the year – you should go for it! In addition, travelling during the weekdays is a another money-saving tip, which will offer you many more benefits such as great offers and quieter hotels. Flight prices will also be much more affordable, which is a double bonus!
CHOOSE A NEWLY OPENED HOTEL
Another technique to get a good hotel deal is to stay in a brand new establishment. While it may seem a bit risky, since there is no customer feedback yet, it is generally worth it. New hotels offer really good promotions on opening rates to attract customers, which is a bonus in itself.
In general, new hotels are also less likely to be occupied and compared to older establishments. This means that they keep the prices low and on top of that, they are generally beautiful, stylish and the bedding is new. Therefore, it’s the best option and your chances of getting an upgrade are quite high. You can also be the first to feedback to your friends on the newest hotel everyone want’s to spend a night at!
TRY TO STAY LONGER
Another effective tip for saving on hotel stays is to book several nights in the same place. In other words, stay as long as you can! Some people like to test several hotels in the same city, but if your budget is tight enough, stay in the same one. The longer your stay, the less expensive the associated cost will be. Longer-staying customers create less work for hotels, whether it be administrative procedures or household chores, meaning it makes more sense for them to cut prices to encourage people to stay longer.
AVOID TOURIST DESTINATIONS
As much as flying to a tropical island would be amazing when it’s cold & gloomy in the UK, but these ocean view hotels or those located in the city centre are extremely expensive. To get a good deal, avoid the touristy destinations and do not hesitate to move away from the city centre. You’ll often find more budget-friendly options and you may find yourself staying in the next go-to hotel.
This doesn’t mean that you can’t travel to any hot, popular destinations but if your budget is a defining factor in terms of booking a holiday, do your research. Before booking a hotel, research the locatio, any public transport links to determine if travelling from one place to another will be easy. Also, using public transport and being a little further away from the city will allow you to discover more about the backstreets and their local culture.
ANALYSE EVERY ELEMENT
Having and following a certain criteria can help you determine whether the hotel is worth the money you are spending. For instance, what types of facilities does the hotel offer? (swimming pool, bar, spa, etc.), or if the hotel is located in a well-known/popular area?
These are all factors that will help you determine whether your hotel is business or pleasure oriented. If you plan to stay in a business-oriented hotel, the cheapest rates will be available on weekends. However, if the hotel where you want to stay is focused on leisure, preferential rates will be available on weekdays.
