Who doesn’t love a little U.K Getaway? I know I do, for sure and so I snapped up the opportunity to visit and review The Impeccable Pig; a quirky hotel, restaurant and pub with a whole lot of character living up to all expectations!
They offer a personalised experience in their 10 unique rooms which all have a different layout, décor and outdoor hot tubs making each stay a different experience. The front of house pub is combined with an elegant but humble restaurant with its own private dining area, which is picture perfect for any intimate events.
The Location
Located in Stockton on Tee’s just 30 minutes away from Newcastle City Centre and 15minutes from Durham, the hotel is an ideal distance for a day trip for anyone with itchy feet. I combined this with a Newcastle shopping trip (after filling my stomach with a selection from their breakfast menu of course). The hotel is just off the A1 and offers free secure parking for guests which is a real convenience.
The Atmostphere
Luxurious finishing’s, individually decorated, spacious and stunning. The whole ambiance of the hotel screams quality and elegance without being too over the top. Their décor plays on their Pig persona from artwork to signage on the wall encouraging you to go ‘totally oinkers’ and wishing us to be ‘as happy as a pig in muck’, really nice little touches which all add to the cosy character.

The Room
Behind the restaurant sits an old brick Coach House where you’ll find two floors of spacious hotel rooms. Each are subtly themed and have their own unique names. We stayed in the ‘Oinkers’ room on the first floor which included its own private hot tub in a hidden but spacious patio area. We were escorted to our room and greeted by the largest bed I’ve ever seen (7 foot to be exact), a spacious free-standing nickel bath, 55-inch TV, mini bar, toiletries, elegant but traditional bathroom and the list goes on. On arrival our hot tub was heated and ready to go with a bottle of wine at the ready. They really do pull out all the stops. Check their 360 tour for a closer look.

More than enjoyable from start to finish, The Impeccable Pig went above and beyond expectations.

The Food
We booked ahead in the restaurant for an evening meal after an afternoon in the tub. Their a la carte menu caters for all with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options alongside pub classics which all sounded divine. It was hard to pin down but I opted for the Mornay King Scallops, Brown Shrimps & Grilled King Prawns for Starter. All I can say is 10/10 and well worth the money! For mains I went for the Duck Confit with Truffle Parmesan & Parsley Fries which is an unreal combo followed by the Raspberry and White Chocolate Cheesecake for Dessert. Each course was perfectly cooked and presented by the friendly staff. We were offered the extensive wine list and took a snoop at their wine cellar which is visible through a unique glass floor feature – again another lovely touch.

I’d recommend:
- Call ahead of your stay and request the hot tub to be full and heated for your arrival so that you can hop straight in!
- Take your own bubble bath – this is provided in the selection of toiletries however the baths are fairly huge and could do with a little extra!
- Plan your stay around a day trip to Durham or Newcastle.
Cost:
The Impeccable Pig is a fairly pricy stay averaging between £160 – £235 per night depending on the room you opt for. That being said, the hotel is well worth the spend for a luxurious stay for any special occasion with a loved one and I will definitely be back!
