Tips For Looking After Your Hair This Summer

In this article, Neil Capstick and Edi Adegbola will go through some tips to look after your hair this summer.

Space out your shampoos

When it’s hot and humid out, you may be tempted to step up the frequency of your shampooing. But over-washing your hair can strip your hair and scalp of natural oils, causing extra-parched locks.

“One solution is to use a buildable dry shampoo between washes, like TEXTURE,” says Neil. “It absorbs excess oil from the roots, boosts volume and resists humidity, helping your style last longer with a stunning scent.”

Switch to a hydrating shampoo and conditioner

If your tresses feel thirstier than normal, try switching your usual shampoo and conditioner for more moisturising formulas. Choose a high quality, hydrating duo that will leave your hair feeling silky soft, add shine and tame flyaways.

“I recommend something like HARMONY Intensive Shampoo and Treatment,” says Neil. “Both are sulfate-free and enriched with deeply nourishing ingredients to provide moisture from within.”

Use UV protection for hair

It’s no secret that UV rays damage unprotected skin. But exposure to summer sun can also sap your salon colour and moisture from hair, leaving you with dry, brittle strands.

“Keep your colour bright and lengths strong with sun-shielding products,” says Neil. “A few spritzes of MIRACLE spray will help protect your hair from heat damage, fight frizz, and even combat brassiness, thanks to its intense violet pigments.”

Skip the heat stylers

Hot tools and summer can spell breakage. While occasional heat isn’t so bad, Neil recommends opting for natural hairstyles in summer.

“If you must use heated stylers, try switching to a cooler setting and remember to spritz your strands with a heat protection spray,” he adds. “GUARD contains film-forming polymers to shield the cuticles from moisture loss during styling, helping to keep your hair soft and shiny.”

Apply a nourishing hair oil

Lightweight, non-greasy hair oils are a summertime saviour. They provide a much-needed moisture boost to thirsty strands, helping to restore shine, tame frizz, and transform lacklustre locks.

Neil says, “Our VELVET hair serum contains a nutrient-rich formula that protects the hair from various external aggressors, including UV damage and heat styling. Apply sparingly to clean, damp lengths or post-styling for the perfect, silky-smooth finish.”
