This Year’s Biggest Hair Trend That Works For Everyone

Expensive looking hair is one of this year’s hottest hair trends. From Hayley Bieber’s glossy brunette tone to beautifully blonde hair that looks healthy and has a mirror-like shine.

Strong healthy hair is what makes hair look expensive when it reflects shine and moves beautifully in the wind. For this look it’s all about healthy hair. Dull, dry and damaged locks are transformed into silky smooth hair with an expensive feel. Which is why the condition of the hair plays a key role in creating this look.

Hazel & Haydn’s Artistic Director, Pamela Cooney advises prepping the hair using “beautiful products before you style like the Eleven Australia Miracle Hair Treatment before blow-dry to protect and nourish the hair ready for further heat styling”

Wella Professionals Colour Trend Expert Zoe Irwin is a big fan of this trend and the new Wella in-salon service Shinefinity is perfect for those who want to achieve that luxe-looking shine.

“Glazing is going to be big for 2022. I’m seeing people really embracing the trend for all things glossy and glowing, from skincare – with celebrities such as Hailey Bieber’s ‘glazed donut’ skin routine – to people seeking treatments that bring back that healthy shine to the hair. Shine is often indicative of health, so it’s no wonder people want to achieve this with their hair.”

“As we approach summer, I’m noticing more and more clients wanting to shed the cold-weather dullness and bring the shine back into their hair. That’s why I’m so thrilled that Wella Professionals is launching the new in-salon Shinefinity treatment. It helps unveil that healthy-looking shine that you can see and feel, with an ultra-natural colour result.”

And it’s not all about brunettes when it comes to this trend, Gavin McIntyre, Director of G&E McIntyre’s is a huge fan of Selling Sunset’s Chrishell Stause’s expertly placed highlights and lowlights to achieve a multi-dimensional blonde.

“Honey blondes are probably the most popular expensive finish looking colour. Not too warm, not too cool, just the right balance to generate lots of light reflection to naturally enhance a glass like shine off the hair. Think Chrishell Stause from Selling Sunset.”

Meanwhile, Celebrity hair stylist and ALFAPARF Milano Creative Ambassador Luke Benson loves the versatility of the trend:

“I like to think that the revival of darker hair is because both celebrities and clients are realising that brunette hair is hugely versatile. It’s not just seen as having a flat one all over colour like it used to be. Now, it’s about premium expensive looking brunettes taking inspiration from Hailey Bieber, it’s about with tones within the one shade for a multi-dimensional feel, when the hair hits the light you can see the different tones and it looks premium. There are so many variations and different choices of tone when it comes to brunette hair and it can look really individual, whether you have short hair or long hair, different tones can be placed to enhance the cut so everything works in harmony. It also has the benefit of looking healthier, glossier and shinier than blonde hair. I think we’ll see this trend continue into the summer of 2022 with clients going against the norm and instead of opting for beachy blondes we’ll see them choosing luxurious brunette tones. Aftercare plays a big part in maintaining that premium feel when it comes to brunettes, the new ALFAPARF Milano Semi Di Lino Brunette line has been designed to neutralise unwanted orange tones, I recommend the Anti-Orange Shampoo and Conditioner to all of my brunette clients as it keeps their hair looking glossy, shiny and expensive.”

Looking to add something to your look? Gavin suggests adding accessories to your look for a fashionable twist:

“Expensive hair to me is polished, high shine, minimal and pristinely styled. Adding an accessory to the hair when styling as well like a bow ribbon or a leather barrette can upgrade your look to expensive for day-to-day wear without breaking the bank, especially accessory colours like sand or black leather gloss finishes.”

Expensive hair toolkit

The ultimate in bedtime luxury, but it’s something experts swear by to wake up with gorgeous hair every morning. Regular cotton pillowcases absorb the oils and moisture from you hair (and your skin) switching to a silk pillowcase keeps your hair hydrated whilst helping to reduce tangles, breakage and frizz. Only Curls’ silk pillowcase  absorbs significantly less moisture leaving your hair’s moisture levels intact.

A good brush is something that is key to taming unruly locks and defeating any tangles. The WetBrush Original Detangler can be used on both wet and dry hair. The innovative IntelliFlex technology in the bristles yields tangles whilst gently releasing the hair, minimising pain whilst protecting against split ends and breakage for healthy looking hair.

If it has luxe on the title then the end result must be expensive looking, right? We’re huge fans of Wella’s Luxe Oil Reconstructive Elixir transforming even the most of unruliest hair for a smooth finish and glistening shine. A fusion of Argan, Jojoba and Almond Oils infuse the hair structure to transform hair from the inside out, protecting the keratin for long lasting smoothness.

And to finish the look, not a must have but the ultimate in expensive looking hair and a luxury treat for your tresses, hair perfume. We love Confessions of a Rebel’s Bitch Please, Hair Perfume. The scented shine-enhancing mist includes Aloe Vera Juice to help strengthen ad repair the hair whilst increasing circulation at the scalp and Propanediol to create a softer finish with a scent to die for including bold blackcurrant notes blended with jasmine petals and creamy sandalwood.
