Skincare on a budget

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of skincare is high end luxury products, getting layered exquisitely onto the skin in the early hours of the morning or as part of a glorious unwind evening routine, followed by a thick lucious night cream.

As amazing as all it sounds, if you don’t have the funding for it, your bank won’t be as beautiful as your skin. But not to worry, Cohorted Cult have hacked it for you.

We know how tough January can be on the bank, so we’ve narrowed down some of the best way to care for your skin on a budget. You don’t need to hurt your pocket to be a skincare legend and we’ve got you sorted.

You can bag a full routine for as little as £100 – rather than spending £100 per product! Fun Face: most drugstore / high street skincare is made in the same labs, with the same formulas as the luxury stuff. With a few tweaks and cheaper packaging, you’ve cheated the system. All you need to know what you want.

Start by listing down what you need and what your skin type and concerns are. A basic routine consists of; Cleanser, Toner, Serum (most important!), Moisturizer, Eye Cream. Additional add ins would include, Face Masks, Treatments (Exfoliants!), Night Creams, Facial Oil, Scrubs and Face Mists.

Adjust you prefrence in each product to what your skin type is and what your skin needs. If you have dry skin, change each product to ones that have hydrating and moisturising properties. If you are more oily and acne-prone, change the product contents to clarifying and calming properties. You can layer your skincare and use different items to target different concerns.

Let’s get shopping…

My personal favourite way to shop skincare has to be online, so that I can read reviews on each product I’m purchasing as well as descriptions, ingredients and brand values. You can easily shop cheap, yet good quality skincare from Superdrug or Boots. I really enjoy both these stores as they have a wide variety and lots of cheap brands to choose from, giving you no excuse to stay on top of your skincare game!

I also search budget skincare through Instagram and online platforms – there are SO many blogs dedicated to budget skincare and it’s super fun hunting them down and reading reviews.

Top Budget Skincare Tips:

Please, pleaseeee! For the sake of your skin (not to mention your bank account!) read the reviews from other people who have purchased this product. You know the rule, customers always know best. If the majority of the product reviews are good, you’re most likely in luck – but ALWAYS remember everyone’s skin is different.

If you’re looking for an eye cream that is supposed to deliver hydration, stick to that. Don’t go buying a triple active anti aging cream with a bunch of properties that don’t apply to you. Keep it simple and save yourself time and money.

It’s cheaper, the hard work is done for you and it’s easy to hunt down some sets that apply to what you’re looking for. A great place to start is to look for a hydrating trio that contains some skincare essentials, or an acne busting kit that will work well together.

I saved the best ’til last. French Drugstore Skincare is the best kept beauty secret you’ll ever learn to know about. The French are passionate about their skin and natural beauty and so they’ve created some amazing laboratory made affordable skincare. Some of my favorite brands are Avene, Embryolisse and Bioderma and I couldn’t recommend trying them more.

And my last hack is kinda cheeky, but a good way to treat yourself properly…

If you’re looking to invest in some high end skincare (c’mon it’s amazing!), keep your eyes peeled for offers, discounts, giveaways and beauty boxes etc.

During Christmas, we’re overwhelmed with Black Friday, Boxing Day, Cyber Monday etc or even more random offers from beauty brands themselves. Keep your eyes peeled for hefty offers so you can bag yourself some luxury skincare with the price tag reduced.

Or keep your eye out for our Cohorted Luxury Beauty Boxes for full-sized high end products that include skincare, bodycare hair and makeup!

Happy Shopping !
