Give Your Skin some TLC with Face Masks

Face masks are great at giving your skin a boost of TLC. Here we share the best face masks for different skin types, from dry skin to oily and acne-prone skin.

Face masks are a vital part of giving your skin that extra boost of TLC during your self-care routine. I aim to get a facemask into my regular routine once a week. It can give your skin either that extra richness, hydration, cleanliness or purification that you’re looking for, depending on your skin type.

Different face masks cater for different things. Whether that’s to moisturise, purify or detoxify, you have to ensure you’re choosing the right mask for you. A lot of this can be based on the type of skin you have and whether certain ingredients are beneficial for that skin type.

For example, someone with dry and sensitive skin should stay clear of abrasive ingredients such as clay, which will just continue to dry out the skin further.

A great affordable sheet mask and with vegan formula, these sheet masks are perfect for a non-messy face mask and if you’re looking for a surge of moisture too. Infused with Witch Hazel Leaf Water for purifying properties and Castor Oil for hydration this is my go-to on most days.

Another favourite, infused with hyaluronic acid, avocado butter and leaf oils this face mask is not only there to hydrate your skin but also soften and smooth the skin.

A brilliant no-nonsense brand The Ordinary are known for their products which help tackle specific problem areas in skincare. A mask which gently exfoliates debris and also reduces inflammation can help cleanse and purify skin.

This is a brilliant clay mask for those with oily or combination skin. Use it once or twice a week.

Just because you have oily skin, it does not mean you have acne-prone skin, and vice versaSo, choosing masks to tackle acne specifically will be different.

One ingredient to look out for is charcoal. It is brilliant for acne, as not only does it soak up excess oil which can be a contributing factor, it also draws out the impurities deep within your skin and poresTea Tree Oil is also a brilliant ingredient to look for in your face masks, as it’s anti-inflammatory.

Another vegan mask which targets blemishes and aims for clearer skin.

Sometimes abrasive clay or charcoal masks can cause more irritation to your skin, However, this Fresh mask is enriched with chamomile flower and lavender water which helps with soothing properties.
