First Class Skincare

As much as we love to travel, lack of hydration, air conditioning, minimal movement and disturbed sleeping patterns can be a hellish experience for our skin. However, preparing your skin for a long haul flight and looking after it during can make you feel refreshed, rested, revitalised and skin ready for anything when you arrive at your destination.

Here are some top tips on how to make your skin feel and look amazing, before, during and after your flight.

Keep hydrated and watch what you eat

Drinking water is already advisable, but when flying, keeping hydrated will keep your skin refreshed and stop it becoming too dry. Water will also prevent your skin from looking overly tired, and keep it plumped and soft. Try not to drink too much alcohol or caffeine on a flight as this will bloat your skin, and remove its natural glow, and possibly cause redness.

Plane food does nothing for skin health, so before you get on the plane, ensure you eat some skin boosting foods including fresh vegetables and fruit, and even fish if possible. This will keep your skin supple and looking healthy, and improve circulation making your skin look naturally toned.

Makeup that does good

If you want to wear make up to the airport lounge, choose options that double as moisturisers. Makeup that doubles as skincare will keep skin soft and means you can add more skin products on top.

When you get on the plane, remove your makeup so your pores don’t become blocked. Make sure to reapply before you leave the plane.

Make sure that you also come armed with a toner, moisturiser and face wipes in your hand luggage, and apply multiple times during the flight to keep your face firm, fresh and clean.

Behind the mask

Masks on a flight do wonders for your skin. Use a classic in flight sheet mask at the beginning of your flight to remove all impurities and give your skin a fighting chance for the duration of the flight. Keep on for about 45 minutes, soaking up everything it has to offer. After the mask, lock in the moisture with a good night cream, and continue to reapply when you feel dry.

Near the end of the flight, use an eye mask to refresh your eyes, and remove the dark circles caused by the interrupted sleep patterns. This will instantly wake you up, and make you feel hydrated and alert as you enter your destination.

Hair Mare

Long flights can leave your hair looking lifeless, dry and frizzy. And going to the salon post flight isn’t the most ideal situation. The easiest, and most effective way to ensure great post flight hair is smother it in leave in conditioner and a french plait. The french plait is comfortable and won’t get in the way when you’re trying to sleep, unlike a bun, and when you remove it at the end of the flight, you’ll have hair as beautiful as the sites you’re about to see.

There are several beauty products out there ideal for frequent flying, just ensure you invest in the best products ideal for your skin type. Sticking to a good skin routine when travelling will ensure your skin travels first class, even if you don’t.
