Expert-Approved Tips For Fighting Frizz

Struggling with frizz? Pro stylist Neil Capstick is here to share his best-kept secrets for fighting frizz this season.

Use The Right Shampoo And Conditioner - £54.00

One of the best ways to keep frizz at bay is to switch to a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. “Sulfates tend to be overly harsh and drying,” says Neil. “They strip away the hair’s natural oils and can cause colour-treated strands to fade more quickly.”

Neil recommends a hydrating, sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner duo to replenish thirsty strands, like HARMONY Intensive Care Shampoo and Treatment. “Harmony contains saintly ingredients, specifically formulated to repair dry, damaged hair for a gorgeous, glossy shine.”

Nourish The Hair With Oil - £17.95

There are fewer ingredients that banish frizz quite like argan oil. Combine it with jojoba and avocado oil, and you have a winning formula to transform rough, unruly hair this summer. Enter: VELVET Nourishing Hair Oil

“Velvet contains a blend of three natural oils – argan, jojoba and avocado – to condition any hair type and protect against UV rays,” says Neil. “Apply to clean, damp strands for a smooth, healthy-looking finish.”

Wash Wisely - £13.75

Over-washing is a major culprit for frizzy, dried-out stands. Sometimes, a spritz of dry shampoo is all you need to give your roots an instant refresh.

“Between washes, use TEXTURE Dry Shampoo and Finishing Spray to absorb unwanted oils and resist humidity,” recommends Neil. “It will prolong your style and control frizz by minimising the need for frequent washing.”

Shield Strands From Heat - £20.00

Neil advises reducing your use of hot tools in Summer, but on days when you can’t resist the blow dryer, he recommends using a heat protectant to reduce damage.

“For blondes, MIRACLE Rapid Blow-Dry Mist is the natural choice,” says Neil. “Not only does it shield your strands from heat and speed up drying time, but it also contains intense violet pigments to refresh and brighten blonde tones. And for other hair colours, Neal & Wolf’s GUARD is the perfect product to help protect against heat and enhance shine”

Apply a Little Hairspray - £11.80

Your hair may still have a few flyaways post-styling. Neil recommends setting them in place with a salon-approved hairspray, like FIX Hold and Shine Spray.

“Fix is designed to keep frizz and flyaways in place whilst intensifying shine,” says Neil. “Try spraying it onto a mascara wand before combing it through strands for a super-strong hold that smells amazing too.”
