Designers To Watch This London Fashion Week

It’s London Fashion Week this week and we could not be more excited about what’s to come for Autumn-Winter 2022. The British Fashion Council in sponsorship with Mercedez-Benz bring us every year a list of breathtaking current, new and emerging designers, with this year being more thrilling than ever.

As a person who live, eats and breathes fashion, there was no better thing for me to do that to compile a list of the ultimate designers to watch this London Fashion Week; with a mix of classic, modern, eccentric, avantgarde, opulent and much more, don’t miss out on the following creative minds and their collections for A/W 2022:

The cult London label questioning the idea of glamour with an infectious eccentricity. Better known as the cool girl’s go-to for ‘conversation-starting’ evening-wear, 16Arlington proposes a maximalist fashion language that expertly, deliciously negotiates the boundaries of trash – as well as a deeply accomplished skill for pattern cutting and hand-embroidery.

Rue Agthonis

The RUE AGTHONIS series is full of classic and charming details: sequins, crystal diamonds, animal prints and RUE AGTHONIS’ signature double R logo. These gorgeous styles remind you of those radiant style icons throughout music history: Queen, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones…Their unique, unruly and stunning shapes inspired the designer’s endless imagination and brought her a steady stream of creativity.

Simone Rocha

Simone Rocha has evolved into an internationally renowned and award-winning brand. Simone works on seasonal imagery and self-publishes limited edition printed books featuring this and the works of collaborators and inspirations. Simone now has three stand-alone stores in London, New York and Hong Kong. Each of these stores feature Simone’s signature furniture and hand-made sculptures. The interiors change seasonally with new displays and installations, notably for SS16 the store window featured an installation titled Flowers and Cars. It was a car reconstructed in the window filled with dried flowers – representing the man-made and natural elements that form part of the brand aesthetic.

Banshee of Savile Row

With its name as a reflection of the founder’s, Ruby Slevin and Rocco Tullio, creative ideals and aesthetics, the brand aims to create the finest traditional tailoring with impeccable techniques, powerful female symbolism and mysticism in every design.

Carlota Barrera

Drawing deep inspiration from the complex shapes and movement of the male body, Barrera’s queer female gaze allows her to view intellectually and artistically, seeing masculinity and male sexuality – the emotions, the forms, the behaviours, socially what it means to identify as male. Tailoring features heavily from season to season, each offering reimagined and subverted from a classic silhouette to create fluid, contemporary designs.

POSTER GIRL, a label manifesting confidence, ultra-femininity and referencing a direct nostalgia to the designers’ upbringings. By pushing and developing surface textures, the high gloss aesthetic of this brand is backed with sophisticated, luxurious construction techniques and quality. Preen by Thornton Bregazzi

Built on an aesthetic of darkly romantic and effortlessly modern, juxtaposing the masculine with feminine and mixing of hard and soft. Their debut collection at London Fashion Week for Spring Summer 2001 established the brand’s essence of punkish sensibilities with vintage elements and hand-crafted details.  The collection debuted to rave reviews with critics responding to the subverting of traditional motifs and British sense of tongue-in-cheek chic. The label has since become synonymous with deconstructed London cool and developed a cult status amongst fashion heavyweights.

Known as the designer that dresses Harry Styles, Stockey-Daley became world known for his graduate collection, which merged historical and literary references. Based around high society, education, patriarchy, and male-dominated public school elite, the collection upholds an extremely effeminate and sustainable approach.

His design practice exists to bridge the gap between Luxury Menswear and Sportswear; unique technical garments, designed and cut for the liberation of movement. Described as having a “sensitivity and intelligence that works right through to the structure of his design,” and having been hailed as “the next superstar of sportswear” – Nash’s young brand is undergoing a meteoric rise. Nash continues to manoeuvre between performance, dance and fashion. Whilst his brand is dedicated to creating garments for movement, Nash often showcases his clothing in self or co-choreographed performances which best demonstrate how they are intended to move.
