Travel-Sized Beauty Favourites for Your Next Holiday
Times are tough right now. As well as the ongoing societal problem of systematic and systemic racism against black people across the world, the Coronavirus pandemic continues. With many of us still abiding by lockdown restrictions, travelling has been severely disrupted.  You may have had a holiday planned that’s been cancelled or postponed. You might have planned to take a quick trip away to escape the hustle and bustle of life. You probably planned a staycation to get away from your hometown for a short while. Regardless of your travel plans, it’s annoying to have to put things on hold.

Face SPF Products You Need to Try Right Now
It’s hot. There I said it. It really crept up on us. We were given rain and storms before a heatwave no one saw coming. I’m the first to burn too. I’ll step outside and within 10 minutes, I’m a rosy hue. This list is as much for me as it is you and I’m excited about it, let me tell you.

Summer Lovin’
You've binge-watched Normal People, developed a mild case of repetitive strain injury from swiping left on boys who are 'just looking for a quarantine buddy ;)' and Love Island 2020 (much like my own love life) is cancelled.   If you're a hopeless romantic like myself and need your fix of summer lovin' in the absence of skin-tight white jeans peacocking around a firepit (I mock, but I've never missed an episode), then pick up a love story.

The Benefits of Meditation On Your Mental Health
Life is still a little on the crazy side right now… I mean, if you’d have asked me back in January what I thought I’d achieve this year, you can bet your bottom dollar I wouldn’t have said building a loungewear collection and not leaving my house for months, other than to go food shopping and walk the dog. No socialising… no holidays… not going into work…  Life has literally been flipped upside down for a lot of people and now more than ever, it’s important to look after our mental health and wellbeing. Spending most of your time alone, or with the same few people in your household can also be hard, especially if you’re a natural social butterfly.

Catwalk to Closet: The Trends You’ll Be Loving (and Wearing) for AW20

With the start of a new season comes the excitement of a whole new host of trends to obsess over and perfect. This year we might be spending more time indoors than out, but that’s no excuse to forego AW20’s biggest and best style stories. Case in point: sleek outerwear that’ll make early morning commutes a little more exciting and high shine metallics to bring the glam to moody winter evenings. To help you hit refresh for AW20, we’ve rounded up the key trends to take note of now.

Gold Rush

Something of an autumn-winter staple these daysglittering gold rules once again. Lighting up the runway at Tom Ford, MSGMAsish and moreshimmering iterations included everything from evening gowns and day dresses to accessories and snazzy separatesA decidedly more sophisticated spin on the yearly sequin sparkle-fest, if the much-anticipated office Christmas parties go ahead, you’ll definitely be spoilt for choice.

Cardi-Core

Just as we were getting a little tired of the semi-tucked in jumper look, cardigans made a welcome return. Spun from luxurious cashmere and wool and with a hint of street-influenced coolthere was also a nonchalant reworking by the likes of Fendi and Missoni with a mix of elegant prints. In other words, AW20 is all about elevated knitwear thatll help you up the cosy factor without really having to try.

In the Red (& Black)

Classic colours reign supreme for AW20 with red and black the standout shades. Seen everywhere (and we mean everywhere) – from ValentinoRodarte and Saint Laurent to Chanel and Balenciaga to name just a few – these bold hues are ready to bring some seriously seductive drama. Go monochromatic with a head-to-toe look rich in texture or mix and match for a punchy accent.

FringBenefits

A little more whimsical than this season’s other major trends, fringe swished down many a big-name catwalk including Christian Dior, Prada, Jill Sander and Stella McCartney. Bringing charm to accessories, adding a touch of playful femininity to strong-shouldered blazers and giving dresses an extra twirl factordesigners had more than a little fun with fringe and we are all for it.

Tinker Tailor

Home office attire might not require quite the same levels of tailoring but still, skirt suits and “borrowed from the boys” silhouettes made a strong showing on the AW20 catwalksFor those who love a little androgyny, aim to go all-out with the old-school shirt and tie combo as seen at AlyxMargaret Howell and Versace. Or make like Altuzarra, Marc Jacobs and Chanel and embrace distinctively prim ladylike vibe with a co-ord skirt set

Checkmate

Led by iconic Brit fashion house Burberrycatwalks from Gucci to Alexander McQueen were awash with checks for autumn-winter. Picture traditional houndstooth and tartan alongside prairie-ready ginghamthe message for this season? More is definitely more. Wear together in a riot of clashing checks or take inspiration from Louis Vuitton and go graceful by teaming with tailored pinstripes.

Form Meets Function

Sure, we want to look good, but it’s got to be practical too, right? Cuestylish puffer and down coats courtesy of Max Mara and Issey Miyake amongst others, and technical fabrics and details reimagined to suit (almost) every occasion. If Off-White can team a zippered waterproof jacket with a ball gown and make it work, who says we can’t? Frankly, reflective colours, drawstrings and hoods never looked so chic.

Collar Crush

Ideal now that Zoom meetings mean we only really need to look good from the waist up, statement collars have shot straight to the top of our new season wish lists. Choose from sweet scalloped renditions and vintage designs for a delicate touch or go loud with oversized pointed interpretations that hark back to the psychedelic 70sAlessandra Rich, Bottega Veneta and Celine are your points of reference for this trend.

Leather Forecast

If you’re style is more futuristic icon and less sultry masked legend – there were capes aplenty for that – then this one’s for you. Classic in cut but most certainly contemporary in look and feel, leather coats stamped their mark on the season at David Koma, Alberta Ferretti, Hermès and pretty much everywhere else. Super slick and great for pulling together new season ensemblesthis is a no-brainer for days when you want to look polished with minimal effort.

Pump It Up

This season, the bigger, the better – for everything. Repeat: everything. Balloon sleeves? Check. Outsized tiered ruffles? Check. Volume, avantgarde silhouettes and XXL accessories? Yep – check, check and check. Leading the way with drama from every angle, the likes of Moncler, Roksanda and Maison Margiela made it clear, this daring trend is not for the faint of heart.

Re-Boot

Who doesn’t love a good pair of boots to keep those toes toasty and uplift cold weather looks? A perennial win-win, the AW20 catwalks saw boots in all shapes and sizes. From square-toed stilettos at Balmain to brogue boot hybrids at Chloé and gleaming gold leather thigh-highs at Preen, variety was definitely the name of this particular game. With so many styles aroundwe reckon there’s got to be a pair with your name scrawled all over it.
