Travel-Sized Beauty Favourites for Your Next Holiday
Times are tough right now. As well as the ongoing societal problem of systematic and systemic racism against black people across the world, the Coronavirus pandemic continues. With many of us still abiding by lockdown restrictions, travelling has been severely disrupted.  You may have had a holiday planned that’s been cancelled or postponed. You might have planned to take a quick trip away to escape the hustle and bustle of life. You probably planned a staycation to get away from your hometown for a short while. Regardless of your travel plans, it’s annoying to have to put things on hold.

Face SPF Products You Need to Try Right Now
It’s hot. There I said it. It really crept up on us. We were given rain and storms before a heatwave no one saw coming. I’m the first to burn too. I’ll step outside and within 10 minutes, I’m a rosy hue. This list is as much for me as it is you and I’m excited about it, let me tell you.

Summer Lovin’
You've binge-watched Normal People, developed a mild case of repetitive strain injury from swiping left on boys who are 'just looking for a quarantine buddy ;)' and Love Island 2020 (much like my own love life) is cancelled.   If you're a hopeless romantic like myself and need your fix of summer lovin' in the absence of skin-tight white jeans peacocking around a firepit (I mock, but I've never missed an episode), then pick up a love story.

The Benefits of Meditation On Your Mental Health
Life is still a little on the crazy side right now… I mean, if you’d have asked me back in January what I thought I’d achieve this year, you can bet your bottom dollar I wouldn’t have said building a loungewear collection and not leaving my house for months, other than to go food shopping and walk the dog. No socialising… no holidays… not going into work…  Life has literally been flipped upside down for a lot of people and now more than ever, it’s important to look after our mental health and wellbeing. Spending most of your time alone, or with the same few people in your household can also be hard, especially if you’re a natural social butterfly.

Affordable Skincare for Your Collection

At Cohorted, we’re all about luxury beauty and premium products, but sometimes you can’t help snapping up an inexpensive and reliable item from the drugstore.

As a student, I loved delving into the affordable skincare world and managed to pick up a few staple products for my collection. I can safely say that I will continue buying these in the post graduate working world!

  1. Superdrug Naturally Radiant Range

The Superdrug Naturally Radiant Radiance Balm is my daily dose of glow. I apply this under my make-up as a dewy base or on make-up free days to make my skin look a little more alive. I honestly believe this has improved the texture of my skin when using on a daily basis.

Another steal from this range is the Hot Cloth Cleanser, a great dupe for the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. This cleanser is a basic product that removes makeup with ease, leaves skin soft and feels super creamy and soothing. It also comes with a muslin cloth, so if you’re after a basic creamy cleanser and are a fan of Liz Earle, this is the one for you!

  1. Superdrug Tan Drops and Spritz

Now onto the tanning side of things I love a healthy, sunkissed face, especially for make-up free days, on holiday or even in winter when your skin needs a bit of a boost. There are so many brands out there offering Tanning Booster Drops and Facial Spritzes but these are usually on the pricier side. I picked the Tan Boosting Facial Serum up from Superdrug’s own Solait CollectionFor someone who is very pale and not a tanning pro, I was really impressed! Both this and the Bronzing Facial Spritz were easy to apply and didn’t leave me patchy when I checked the mirror in the morning.

Of course, you can use these products daily or add more drops into your moisturiser for a darker tan. I prefer a natural look so use these 2 items when I fancy waking up bronzed or if I’m planning a no-makeup look the following day. If you haven’t ventured into the facial self-tanning world, I suggest giving these affordable options a go before going spendy on some of the bigger brands out there.

  1. Superdrug Vitamin E Hydrating Mist

By now, you’re going to think this post is sponsored by Superdrug, but I promise it isn’t! The next must-have on my list is the Superdrug Vitamin E Hydrating Mist. I am a huge fan of facial spritz and have tried many-both high and low end. I continue to repurchase this Superdrug number because I just can’t get enough of itPre or post make-up, in the morning, at night or midday for a little refresh, at only £3.99 you won’t feel guilty about spritzing this mist all day, every day! Again, this product feels natural and soothing on the skin, so is perfect if you’re on the sensitive side. If you’re on the lookout for a basic facial mist then definitely give this one a go!

  1. Ren’s Ready Steady Glow Toner

This is a new product to the market and could be classed as high-end skincare, however I purchased a miniature travel-size version to trial before splurging on the full-size bottle. After only using this product for a few nights, I could already notice difference in the texture of my skin. Acid-based products tend to break my irritable skin out, but not this one! My under the skin bumps drastically reduced and the overall appearance of my skin was brighter and clearer. I will be incorporating this product into my skincare routine a few times a week, however it does recommend using daily.

  1. Simple’s Protect ‘N’ Glow Range

Simple’s recently launched ‘Protect ‘N’ Glow’ range features 8 skincare staples and I purchased the ‘Detox & Brighten’ Clay Mask and the Triple Protect SPF30 Moisturiser. The mask from this collection really stood out to me as for a clay mask, it made my skin look glowy and fresh, without drying or breaking it out. I like to use this mask once weekly, but as it’s so natural you could use it more frequently. I’m not sure how well this mask ‘detoxified’ my skin but it sure is a lovely addition to my self-care routine.

  1. Embryolisse Crème Concentré

I recently purchased the Embryolisse Crème Concentré after seeing it in every skincare blogger’s collection! It’s a super affordable, multi-use product, so I had to try it for myself; I can’t say this moisturiser massively improved my skin but it’s certainly a fail-safe moisturiser that I would venture back to. I’ve heard many Beauty Editors and Influencers rave about Embryolisse, so perhaps I need to continue buying and trying! This moisturiser is lightweight, so I like to use in the AM, it also doubles up as a primer so is perfect when you’re in a rush or if you don’t like faffing around with millions of products.

  1. Mario Badescu Lipbalm

Lastly, I had to include a lip balm in my list of skincare staples because it’s ALWAYS part of my AM and PM skincare regime. Mario Badescu’s Original Lipbalm is one of my favourites due to its glossy look, moisturisation and staying power. I can safely say I apply this every day, especially when I can’t be bothered with lipstick or gloss. I always like to have a sheen to my lips, make-up or no make-up, so this product always leaves the house with me! So far, I’ve trialled the original version which is described as ‘lightly coconutty’, once but I need to purchase the Rose edition ASAP.

  1. Travel-Sized

Another tip of mine for those who love trialling new skincare with a smaller budget, is to explore travel-sized alternatives – a great way to trial products that would otherwise be too spendy! This way you can see if the product is worth the hype and are suited to your skin type, without the risk of wasting your hard-earned cash! Just because it’s all over Instagram, it doesn’t mean it will be for you Cult Beauty and Boots have entire sections dedicated to these beauty minis. Did I mention how CUTE the tiny versions of products are?

So there you have it, my round up of budget skincare staples which can affordably slide into your skincare collection. Let me know how you get on with these suggestions…
