5 Steps to Happiness

ometimes life can be so stressful and complicated due to multiple different reasons for instance your relationship, friendships, worry about the future, bad choices you made, etc. The list goes on! Sometimes, it can be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel and you might be wondering if you could ever be happy.

The good news is there are a few things you can do to instantly feel happy and improve your mood on an everyday basis. But don’t forget that you have the key to your happiness and it’s all about your mindset.

  • Focus on yourself

We spend a lot of time trying to make our loved ones and people around us happy, to please them with our accomplishments, our work and actions leading us to often forget to focus on ourselves in the first place.

At the end of the day, it’s all about your well-being and mental health. You need to prioritise yourself! Take the time to do things that make you happy and stop trying to please everyone around you. Focus on your dreams, goals, plans and passions.


  • Accept that you can not control everything

Accepting that some situations are out of your control will make you realised that worrying won’t help you in any shape or form. Accepting and realising that take a huge weight off your shoulders. Instead of focusing on things you can’t control for example on things you’ve done in the past or don’t have – focus on the things you have.

There are so many things to be grateful for and you’ve probably achieved so many things in life! Focus on the things that make you happy, proud and grateful.


  • Let your feelings out

Most of the times, the reason why we are down is because we keep lot of emotions inside us and by time, you just have all those negative feelings built up inside you. To be completely honest, it’s one of the worst things you can do.

Talking about how you feel, emptying your heart out, can instantly change the way you feel. Talk to someone you trust for instance a family member or friend. If you do not have anyone to talk to, write. Take a notebook and write down everything you feel or start journaling. Write everything you would like to say to a person. It will instantly relieve you!


  • Spend less time on social media

Social media are a great way to express and share your creativity. So many people have created businesses and careers based on those platforms but on a day-to-day basis, they don’t really have that many positive effects on people.

Using social media platforms on an everyday basis can have a negative impact on yourself. Thinking that people whom you follow have a better life, are much happier in their lives and are more successful will bring negative energy into your life thus negative feelings & emotions.

Social media is only a highlight of people’s best moments in life. They only show what they want you to see. In reality, they lead a very normal life and face the same problems as us.


  • Get away from negative energy

We all have people around us who are full of negative energy. They are always constantly feeling negative to the point it becomes unbearable. But you have to understand that you aren’t obliged to accept their negative thoughts or even themselves into your life. What matters the most is your happiness is and that should be your priority.

If there are people in your life who are not there for you when you need and do not make you happy or feel loved, then do not feel guilty about getting away from them. You don’t need these types of people in your life.
